Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

Just another company who could care less about a couple thousand product purchasers, after all what's a couple thousand dollars to a multi million dollar company who's only loyalty lays with its shareholders.

Disappointing, I thought I was purchasing something worth keeping. It appears I made a serious mistake in making this purchase. It'll be the last. Thats a guarantee.

The day I bought this boat anchor, vista out of the box was a huge bloated sloth. I tried cleaning out all of the hoards of junk (I say holding my tongue) that came pre-installed. Bad mistake. Vista only likes to work on its own terms. Thank god for LINUX. This oversized night light worked well and fast on LINUX. Nothing like free operating systems to make the pain a little more tolerable.

I had crossed my fingers and waited with baited breath for Windows 7. I figured I could finally have a reprieve from the horrors of Vista. Obviously I was wrong.

HP deserves nothing less that a severe slap upside the head for this blunder.

Listen to your customers for a bloody change.

HP you fooled me once but never again. Great timing too. I can now safely say I will buy my wife's new laptop from another vendor.

These forums are a wonderful place to really learn about just how little these companies think of their clients and just what they are really selling. HP certainly appears to care little about customer loyalty, thats for sure.

Time will tell. I am certainly going to follow the recommendation by another user in this forum to email or call HP's support and complain, complain, complain.

HP needs to be held accountable for its lack of support for its products and customers. Even if the product is just over a year old.

At least I am lucky enough to understand how to work with computers and how to get things done to make them work. But I feel for those that can't. I'm going to give it a try and install Win7 as suggested here. I want my ROI on this thing first before giving it away.

Ubuntu's distro's works wonderfully on these laptops. That is if you feel the need to abandon MS all together.

Good luck to me and to the many users in the same boat.

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

Well,  here's my $0.02

I have the dv9500t CTO notebook and I really like the form factor.  The computer has enough horsepower and capabilities to last me for many years and I think the overall design is great.  I fought through the "melting GPU" issue and have a new mobo which has reduced the operating temp of the GPU by 30 degrees so i hope the rest of the PC will hold up for another year or two.  There have been no real leaps in the H/W realm since i bought this machine so i see no need to "upgrade" to anything else.

That is why i find it ridiculous that HP has decided not to provide drivers for this machine.  I understand that their business is in selling new computers, not supporting old ones, but I don't see a more capable machine on hta market than that which I already own.

I went ahead and performed and UPGRADE IN PLACE on my machine and it went quite smoothly other than the same drivers that have already been listed in other posts.  The machine is much more reponsive and stable but does still have a couple of quirks:

The following crash reports were generated using WhoCrashed (great freeware)

1) NVIDIA driver is still causing an occasianal crash even though I have upgraded to the latest drivers from NVIDIA (Win 7 compatible)

On Fri 12/4/2009 2:24:45 PM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys
Bugcheck code: 0x1000007E (0xC0000005, 0x830917D3, 0xAEC4B8DC, 0xAEC4B4C0)
Error: SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M
Dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\120409-35755-01.dmp
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys
product: NVIDIA Compatible Windows Vista Kernel Mode Driver, Version 179.48
company: NVIDIA Corporation
description: NVIDIA Compatible Windows Vista Kernel Mode Driver, Version 179.48

2)Windows has caused a couple of crashes which I suspect are related to some TBD driver issue:

On Tue 12/15/2009 1:55:56 PM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: ntkrnlpa.exe
Bugcheck code: 0xD1 (0x0, 0x2, 0x1, 0x877C3C5A)
Error: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\121509-28017-01.dmp
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect, possibly the culprit may be another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

And

On Sun 11/22/2009 3:41:51 PM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: ntkrnlpa.exe
Bugcheck code: 0x9F (0x3, 0x868C7568, 0x8313BAE0, 0xAB2C7238)
Error: DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE
Dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\112209-31200-01.dmp
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntkrnlpa.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
The crash took place in a standard Microsoft module. Your system configuration may be incorrect, possibly the culprit may be another driver on your system which cannot be identified at this time.

3) There seems to be an occassional issue with my Intel 4965AGN card:

On Sun 11/22/2009 4:59:13 AM your computer crashed
This was likely caused by the following module: netw4v32.sys
Bugcheck code: 0xA (0x64, 0x2, 0x1, 0x8342A71E)
Error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
Dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\112109-24273-01.dmp
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\netw4v32.sys
product: Intel® Wireless WiFi Link Adapter
company: Intel Corporation
description: Intel® Wireless WiFi Link Driver

I have also gone through a long analysis related to the wireless signal dropping on a regular basis with certain routers (unfortunately one of them was one that I owned) but seemed to have fixed this at home by purchsing a new wireless router.

I'm not sure if a clean install would yield any better results but I may perform one over the holidays just to see it it does.

HP Pavilion dv9850ev Windows 7 Installation

I would like to inform and help the forum about my experience of Win 7 - 32bit installation in a HP Pavilion dv 9850ev.

After many trials now the Notebook works fine on Win 7.

I follow the next procedure step by step :

1) Clean installation of Win 7 in NTFS formatted HD

2) Format of "HP_Recovery" partition of HD

3) Download and install latest drivers from nVIDIA video card (115MB)

4) Download and install latest drivers from Realtek HD Audio card (30MB)

5) Download and install from HP Quick Launch Buttons (sp40139.exe)

6 Download and install from HP Ricoh 5-1 Card Reader Driver (sp37809.exe)

That 's all.

Everything in Device Manager works fine, even the Media Player Quick Lanch buttons.

I hope that is helpfull.

Best  Regards

:smileywink:

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

I am with you.  I only kept this thing with Vista waiting for the day i could upgrade to Window 7.  Now i cannot do it.

Unless they can help this will be the last HP i would ever buy.

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

My laptop is the Pavilion DV9820us. I installed Win7 64 and have problems with the audio.

Conexant doesn't care about this problem, also HP. Please if you know how to fix this problem with the audio post it here or contact me.

This is my last HP laptop, very disappointed.

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

Hello there,

I´m from germany and own a pavillion dv9787eg. It was per-installed with Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

Because of the less memory I switched tu Vista 64-bit. Mostly everything worked fine except the fingerprint-sensor. That was out of order - although I had installed the correct drivers (64-bit) for it.

Last night I had enough from Vista and installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my notebook. Some drivers I needed to install from the Vista 64-bit sector. And.....Windows 7 runs. Fast and right now without major problems.

Only.....my remote will not work....don´t know which driver I need for it. And: again the fingerprint-sensor is out of order. The drivers were installed correct (dev.mgr tells me the device is installed properly and works). But: I do not have the software to use this thing. Aaarrrgh....makes me dizzy.....:smileymad:

So...has anybody an idea what to do? And where will I geht MS Media-Center back? Because therefore is the remote.:smileywink:

Ah...by the way...the QuickPlay buttons ....they also don´t work....just saw it a minute ago.:mansad:

Help.....

Bye from germany

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

I am tired of this, HP will lose thousands of customers is they don't solve this. We need to unite and claim to HP support for Windows 7. If you are agree with me, please post in this forum, we need to call and send emails to them right now.

dv9000 series are not to old at all, these laptops need to be suported by Win7. Vista was a fiasco, they need to find a solution.

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

Well, I am in good company.  I will never buy another HP either.  I had a terrible time when I had to send it in to be repaired.  I won't even go into details.  One think I will say, I got someone from India, that I could not understand and she would not put a supervisor on.  I was so angry with the service, it is a wonder I did not have a stroke!!!  They computer for over 3 weeks, when they said it would be 7 days.  Then when I finally got it back, they had not even fixed it.  They did nothing.  Had to send it in again.  I am so done with HP!!!!   And I tell everyone I meet.

On the positive side, FOR SONY, my brother had a great experience with them.  Their Sony laptop needed help.  After speaking to someone, in English, it was determined it needed a new hard drive.  They had NOT purchased any extended protection or anything, but were told they would be contacted in 2-4 days, they were contacted in 2 days by a technician, he came TO THEIR HOUSE, replaced the hard drive.  In 45 minutes, it was fixed.  My brother tells everyone he can about the contrasting experiences.

Re: hp pavilion dv9000 series will not get windows 7 driver support from HP.

I also find this to be a very sloppy attempt at customer service.

I am currently working for a company that makes billions a year and all we use is HP Desktops and Laptops.

Supporting these on a software basis and hardware basis is very easy and although the HP supprt is only someone reading a script i always get what i want without too much fuss.

Change this to a general memeber of the public and their support is a pittiful mockery of an attempt to know what they are doing. Myself and my brother both purchased the same Pavillion DV9000 laptop and are both high performance users.

My brothers laptop had a series of problems which HP were unable to fix.

They damged his laptop twice.

Swapped every component out 1 at a time per a repair so was sent away around 7 times

Mixed up his operating system liscence code on the actuall computer so his receipts were useless (this was a long fight to correct)

Tried telling him that there was no issue (I call random shutdowns constant hibernation which can be undone without holding down power button and blue screening a problem but what do i know i have only worked with PCs for five years day in day put as well as it being a personal hobby)

Now on a laptop of its age I cannot actually make my near useless overheating and poorly compatible hardware worth the money i paid for it because HP as usual have no concern for their customers.

Yet i have a PC which i custom built from various sources which i can find perfect drivers for windows 7 64bit ultimate without even having to look at a support page.

Come on HP get a clue
