Hi,
I recently installed the 2011 version of simple pass. I get this error eventhough I can use fingerprint reader to log in. In addition to that, no biometric devices show under control panel. Device manager shows validity sensor as enabled
HP Pavilion dm4-1160us
Windows 7 Home Premium

Imkhan,
Short Version:
You must run Digital Persona on the dm4 (and not SimplePass 2011 / 2012)
Long Version:
I am pretty sure you cannot run SimplePass 2011 on this machine. The only reason anything is working at all is because your older Validity Sensor Driver for the fingerprinter is still functioning.
The Programs and Drivers work in matched sets, too: One cannot mix an older Driver with a new program.
The various SimplePass software packages are hardware dependent. Even though HP has sometimes called Digital Persona by the name "SimplePass", it is not the same Program. Digital Persona is a set of instructions written to work on the dm4 (and some other older computers); SimplePass 2011 / 2012 is a different programmed set of instructions written to work on newer hardware.
==================================================
Drivers control Hardware (fingerprinter)
Programs control Software (passwords, website logins / database)
Always install the Driver FIRST
Then install the Software
Validity Sensor Driver V2.1.0.2 sp50862
DigitalPersona V5.2.0.233_64BIT sp55459
Once you have your software working, be sure to Export your password database!
Good Luck!

Dragon Tips!
Export the DP Database / Make a Backup:
Start/Open Digital Persona > scan your fingerprint to open > Online Accounts > Manage >
See Import and Export > Select Export
> Export online account data from this computer >
Scan your fingerprint > type your password >
Browse to your selected folder > type in a name > Finish
Keep the Export file safe. Re-export on a regular basis. If you have to reinstall your software, you will be able to use this file to restore your passwords.
