Ask here: www.ubuntu.com
I think that it might work. Try Sabayon linux, http://www.sabayon.org/ I have been using it for 2 years now and I love it. There are many drivers for wifis, graphics cards, etc.. loaded in the live environment already. You don't have to use restricted drivers like on Ubuntu. There are approptiate drivers straight from NVidia, ATI or Intel. CPU scalling works perfectly, if the CPU supports the feature. Sabayon also has the newest kernels (means support), in the latest version 5.5 - 2.6.37-sabayon
From my experience, I would recommend an Intel machine, not AMD...

Ok, it's your choice..![]()
This review is exactly a week old. I think that this is a brand new laptop and there won't be many users so far.

Hi,
Yes it is possible, but you need to get rid of 2 existing partitions (4 is the max); my first choice was Windows 7 and Restore, but for a second try, I would go for boot and Windows 7 (and keep retore
Wifi is not active but drivers are available (I found help on Blogeee.net forum): it works
Catalyst seems also not present (10.04 NBE): should be installed manually, but getting it from Ubuntu software gave a problem (no more "NBE desktop"): I will have to try again
Keyboard specific keys are fine, webcam also

The only issues I have run into with any linux distro on the dm1z is lack of wifi support out of the box. This has for the most part been resolved with the release of the 3.x kernel. Many linux distros now work well out of the box on the dm1z. I currently have mine dual booting between Windows 7 and Kororaa (my favorite linux distro btw, it is a modified fedora if you have never heard of it) and use Kororaa as my primary OS. It is the only pre 3.x(2.6.38) kernel with wifi support out of the box that I have tried. I believe that any distro with a 3.x kernel will have wifi support out of the box, at least all of the ones I have tried (Chakra, Ubuntu 11.10 beta, Fedora 16 alpha, OpenSUSE 12.1 milestone 5). I would highly reccomend Kororaa, but any of the distros I have mentioned should work fine for you.
