lost recovery disks

i have an hp g61-336nr laptop win 7 64 bit.  i have lost the recovery disks i created, sine you can only burn 1 set is there  any way to restore my factory os from the recovery partition? cant afford to order replacements from hp rite now.

Hi,

 

You can see if Recovery Manager from within Windows as detailed in the document on the link below.

If the above doesn't work, shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f11 as you start-up to see if this will launch Recovery Manager - see details Here.

i tried the steps in that link to no avail. is there a way to use the recovery partition to create an install disk? or i have another windows 7 disk  i can use, can i backup all the hp drivers and software and use them on a new os?

Hi,

 

There is a work around if you have ( or can borrow ) a retail Windows 7 installation disc that is exactly the same version as your OEM installation - ie if your notebook came with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit this is the exact retail version you would need.

 

Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the underside of your notebook when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
