Can anyone help me; please?
I have a Compaq Presario SR1603WM with windows XP. Somehow we accepted a piece of malware called Personal AntiVirus and it took over my computer! I have deleted most of it that I can see and installed Norton 2009 anti virus and ran the scan. My problem is I cannot surf the Internet at all now and the compuret runs slow as heck. At present I have it unplugged and off-line. Can ahyone help me get my operating system back, please?

Got to http://www.eset.com and download NOD32. Get your trial license. Burn NOD32 to a CD or flash drive. Disable your current antivirus program. Install NOD32 on the infected machine, and scan your system.

CherylG: Thank you so much! I took your advice and that of the other person who volunteered help. I downloaded Malwarebytes and NOD32 to a flash drive from another computer then, since MB looked like the smaller, easier program I installed it on my Compaq and voila`, she is up and running just like before, I can surf normally once again. Thanks to you both and especially to CherylG. Folks on forums like this are really a Godsend, by and large no matter what the forum topic there are always knowledgeable, helpful folks willing to step in and correct problems for us less than saavy computer users.
THANK YOU ALL! Dave
