missing drivers under other device in device manager dv6-6117dx

cannot find drivers for sm controller and 2 usb controllers in device manager under other devices ...searched hp site for this laptop, dv6-6117dx...this notebook has the amd processor a8-3500m...it also has 2 usb 3.0 and 2 usb 2.0...the usb 2.0 works perfectly..i cant tell if the usb 3.0 are working as 2.0 usb devices plugged into the usb 3.0 ports are not detected.

 

so maybe those missing usb controller drivers are for the 3.0 usbs???are usb 2.0 devices detected when plugged into usb 3.0 ports??

 

thanks for any info on this..

Please go to this site, select OS of your machine (32 or 64bit), download chipset drivers and install it on your machine.

This seems to be a widespread problem with win 7 reinstalls - I immediately put in a SSD drive so I never even booted the original HP software to go through setup (way too much bloatware anyway).

 

I've tried installing ALL USB 3.0 packages, both from the site you linked as well as from the general HP site returned when looking up this model.  NONE of the packages solve the USB 3.0 recognition problem, I tried the Fresco Logic USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver package but it didn't find the necessary hardware.  Both the latest version of the Renesas Electronics USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver 2011-11-18 , Version:2.1.19.0 and the older NEC package all fail as well.  I've even reinstalled the Graphics driver as someone said that solved their problem (Google this model with "left side" USB 3.0 not working), but no dice.

 

Device Manager shows 3 items under "Other Devices,"  2 with exclamation marks and one with a ?.  Any assistance would be most appreciated.
