ITS A DINOSAUR !! I GAVE THIS OLD LAPTOP TO MY 10YR OLD LIL GIRL , FORMATTED THE HD RE-INSTLD XP BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHY THE QSI CDRW/DVD SBW-241 WILL NOT RECOGNIZE DVD'S , USED MY OEM HP CD'S TO REINSTALL EVERYTHING ? BUT THE DRIVE JUST WONT WORK WITH DVDS ? CDS READ FINE ? HELP ME GET MY BABY GIRLS 1ST LAPTOP GOIN ...THANX A MILLION :smileyhappy:

Windows has the driver for all optical drives, HP does not provide one, if it cannot read DVDs, it may be too old to read newer dvd media or the dvd laser has failed.

 

10 years is ancient in computer years.
