need help downgrading hp pavilion dv5 to winxp with vista pre installed

hi    I need help downgrading hp pavilion dv5 to windows xp with vista pre installed

i have a hp pavilion dv5-1118ca with

intel pentium dual-core mobile processer T3200 (2.0 GHz)    and

intel graphics media accelerator 4500MHD with shared graphics memory  and

mobile intel(R) 4 series express chipset family

anyway i have my store bought xp disks and my hdd partitioned off but when i try to install windows xp i get stop error 0x0000007b its says at the begining that windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. i tried many times but i still cant get it to install xp. any help here would be nice

I have the SAME exact problem. Well i dont know exactly if this is the problem, but it might be. The bios version might only be for windows vista and higher. So you might have to downgrade the bios in order to install windows. ill try it and tell you i f it works

This is a sata issue. xp install disks do not have support for sata controllers.  Go to intels website and download the 4 series sata driver package.  next you have to use nlite to slipstream the drivers into the installation.  I had the same issue with a new notebook.  If you do not have nlite and are using factory xp, than another option is to put the intel drivers on a usb stick and hit F6 at the beginning of setup and install them that way.  I nlited mine and while I was at it, relieved xp of some of it's crap.  Who uses briefcase anyway?  good luck
