pavilion dv9408nr laptop and windows 7

Is it possible to put windows 7 on the pavilion dv9408nr ????

I ran microsofts compatibility software and only issue was itunes andQuick launch buttons.

Removed both of these and then laptop wouldnt recognize my cd/dvd player.

Laptop did not see the player. It didnt come up when u clicked on computer.

So i reinstalled quick launch buttons from hp and did a recovery of the cd/dvd player

from my hard drive.  Then i restored to a restore point prior to eliminating Quick launch buttons.

Laptop is now back to normal and functioning ok.

Will i be able to install windows 7 on this and if so what do i do to make it go smoothly.

Re: pavilion dv9408nr laptop and windows 7

You can uninstall both the software which are not compatible with Windows 7. Post upgrade you can install both of them.

You can install the Quick Launch Windows 7 Compatible software from the following weblink:

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45058.exe

iTunes compatible with Windows 7 is downloadable from the following weblink:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

If the optical drive is not working after uninstalling iTunes, follow the steps available in section "aring upper and lower registry filters" of the following weblink:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01059852&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_US...

Re: pavilion dv9408nr laptop and windows 7

Thanks soooo much.

Am printing off your answer and will try this.

Have been on the phone with both HP and Microsoft.

Microsoft offered me a refund cause i purchased the family pack

and HP just said they couldnt help unless i paid $99 for extended warranty.

Geez all this just to update.

I do appreciate the input - felt like i was beating my head against a wall today.
