problem with EzRecover.exe on Pavilion dv8-1250ea

Hello!

A couple of days ago my laptop started displaying an error message as soon as Windows 7 boots up:

"system error - ezrecover.exe cannot run because file vcljpg70.bpl is missing. Try reinstalling software..."

I've got Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, and for a day or two prior to that it had been moving this missing file into Quarantine as it considered it a high security risk, and I would manually restore it. However, yesterday this file disappeared from Quarantine and it's nowhere to be found.

I am not sure whether ezrecover.exe is a legitimate piece of software and what it is for.

My system is fully up-to-date with all updates installed.

Any ideas how to fix this? Many thanks in advance!

Andrey

Re: problem with EzRecover.exe on Pavilion dv8-1250ea

I had done just that a couple of times, but then the darn file disappeared from Quarantine entirely. I think Kaspersky just deleted it permanently. I shall try to do a System Restore to see if this would help and will post a note on this Forum if it does.

You can try System Restore from the point when the notebook is doing okay. But if it does'nt work, then System Recovery is the last option.

Hello!

Many thanks, this is exactly what I tried today - and it worked! I ran a full system antivirus scan, and all is fine!

Many thanks!

Re: problem with EzRecover.exe on Pavilion dv8-1250ea

I have only seen "Ezrecover" on Toshiba computers. I think Toshiba uses the program to restore computers to a previous state where other computer manafactures use other programs.  I have never seen this recovery program on a HP. Is this something you installed or did it come pre installed.
