"Touch bar" malfunction--off/on internet connectivity

I have a HP Pavilion dv8t.  Is there a way to turn off the touch bar along the top of the keyboard?  My internet connection periodically goes on and off and the bass/treble and/or volume bar will show up on screen, not allowing me to type until I click on the mouse button to make it go away.  Today, for the first time, the internet icon was completely unlit (usually red for not on, blue for on now blue all the time whether off or on unless not lit at all ).  I'm running Windows 7.  This seems to be getting worse--Help!!  (As I typed this, I lost connection and had the bass/treble bar show up at least 30 times)

Re: "Touch bar" malfunction--off/on internet connectivity

Hi,

Can you post back with the following.

1.  The full Model No. and Part No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ).

2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

Regards,

[ Edited ]

Hi,

There is a firmware update for the capacitive strip intended to fix this issue - download and install this from the link below.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-96360-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...

After the installation, restart the notebook.

Re: "Touch bar" malfunction--off/on internet connectivity

Thank you so much! This seems to have fixed the issue. I really appreciate finally finding someone who could help me (I've been through Staples, HP, and a local person, none of who could help). I was about at the point of throwing my computer out the window because it was so annoying to use, so I really appreciate getting help that actually worked!

Thanks again!

Laurie

Re: "Touch bar" malfunction--off/on internet connectivity

Hello everyone having problems with the touch sensative buttons. I had the same problem with my HDX 16 wifi light and volume and mute control flashing on and off at random times. I tried update after update and even spent $30 on a new wifi card.

After a year of this crap i decided to try one more thing before i go off and buy a new laptop.

I took out the battery and removed all the screws for the top panel, the keyboard and the bottom panel. I then turned the laptop over, opened the lid and removed those three items carefully. making sure not to pull or tear the ribbons too hard. I used a can of compressed air to blow out any dust and used a vacuum to get any additional dust out on the pannel. I then made sure all ribbons were set properly in place. and reassembled my laptop.

WORKS PERFECTLY NOW!

This may not fix all of your problems but i wanted to share my experience just incase it may help you!
