sigmatel C-major audio driver

I get an error message that "sigmatel C-major driver has stopped working" I was told to go on the manufacturer's site and get a new driver, but the HP site does not show that driver??

Which windows are you using and is it 32 or 64 bit.  What is the exact model of your notebook (usually found on the bottom or under the battery).?

I have vista at 64 bit; hp pavilion dv5

Could you take a look on the bottom of the machine or under the battery and see if you can find more numbers after the dv5?  Did you upgrade the operating system or is that what came with your system?

The numbers are:  s/n CNF8284016  abd p/n FE850UA#ABA

Two weeks ago, to deal with a virus which was slowing down the computer, the entire drive was backed up, the hard drive swept clean, current Vista installed and files transfered back.. The computer and programs work perfectly now, and only that error message came up one week ago.

Here are your drivers if you are using vista 64 bit but I don't see anything that would use the sigmatel C-major audio driver.  That is a very old chip set and I don't believe it had any support past xp.  I could be wrong.  Can you go into device manager and see what device has the yellow !s or red triangles?

I went into device manager and I can find no trace of this device. Since my computer works well now I think that I shall disregard the message which has not shown up again Thank you.
