Re: simplepass 2012 don't pop up

If it was not a "long" time ago that this worked, you might try using Restore to go back to when it did work...

Why?  Because it sounds like the database is corrupted and updating is not going to work.

You are maybe facing reinstalling the Software from scratch - and unless you have your Webcards exported (backed up), this could be painful (irritating, not literally painful).

Always REMEMBER:

Validity Sensor Driver installs FIRST

Software installs Second.

If you forget this, things stop working.

Try:

You can go to the Device Manager, pop (Right-Click) the Biometric > Validity Sensor and uninstall it.

Reboot and let the system reinstall the Driver.  Do NOT delete the driver unless you have a downloaded driver that you can install as a replacement.  This may not have anything to do with the Software not opening now, but it is good to know...

Try:

Restoring Windows to a Previous Point (Windows 7)

If that will not work for some reason, then try (again):

Try to Repair the SImplePass Software:

Control Panel > Programs and Features >

Look for this program:

Right-Click on HP SimplePass
Select "Repair"

Try:

===================================================================

The Hard Reset:

This method works for a variety of Driver connection and ‘stuck’ program issues.

  • Shut down the computer
  • Disconnect all external devices - everything.
  • Remove AC power and the battery
  • Press and hold power button for at least 30 seconds
  • Reinstall the AC power cord for first startup ** See Note
  • Power on - Log in
  • Next time you shut down the system, reinstall battery.

** Note:  If time is short, reinstall battery the first time and be done with it.

WHAT IF?

If you kick it from every side and SimplePass will not open, remove the driver and software and start over.

Driver installs first, then software.

When you do have a working set, Export those webcards!

Export the Webcard Database:

If you have working SimplePass software, Export your Webcards before proceeding.  In the event that you must remove the SimplePass software, your webcard backup can be used (imported) to restore your website login information.

Start SimplePass > Settings > Export     NOTE:  File will be named *.tsd

Good Luck!

Kind Regards,
