i was eager to see turbo boost in action(i have dv6 6121tx intel 2630qm with 2.9ghz turbo boost), but it never goes above 2ghz in my laptop. Yes i have read everything about how the turbo boost works, but even when its idle or worked heavily my laptop never seem to go above 2ghz. the intel turbo boost monitor always show no more than 2ghz. i have tried to install the turbo boost driver but it says i dont meet the minimum requirements which puzzles me. i also cannot find anything related to turbo boost in my laptop anywhere(not even in device manager). so help me guys..............thnx

there are 2 versions of turbo boost, not sure if yours is 1.0 or 2.0, mine is 1.0.
Its possible with 2.0 there is no driver to be seen or installed, not much info on it.
1.0 = first gen core i processors
2.0 = 2nd gen core i processors

You might look in the bios to see if there is a setting in there, maybe its disabled.

thanks for all the help Mumbodog.
i got it to work but its pretty lame i didnt understand why it worked. here is what i did:
1. go to hp coolsense.
2. select performance optimized mode.
3. restart your laptop.
4. turbo boost works.
Note: 1. turbo boost 2.0 doesnt require any drivers(so all of you who are searching, stop it)
2. if your fan settings in hp coolsense is any mode other than performance op. mode then turbo boost doesnt work(i.e, in coolest mode or quietest mode).i seriously dont get this logic??????
3. intel say that turbo boost cannot be turned off or on but changing the fan settings could actually disable or enable it.
