Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

Hello Paul

Sorry to be a pain but I was wondering if you could help me with another problem I have noticed since upgrading.

On the Hp nx6125 laptop there is a function key "fn" which let you use some of the keys for other functions, like making the screen lighter or darker and use some of the keys as a numbers pad, plus other functions.

I have looked on the internet without much luck as it seems it may not be possible ?

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

Hi, Peter:

You're not being a pain at all.

It is possible that you need to install the Quick Launch buttons driver to get those keys to work. I am not 100% sure, but it is the only thing I can think of that you didn't install.

However, the Vista QLB drivers are not compatible with W7, so I have provided the link to the W7 version of these drivers--again from the 6910p.

Please let me know if this worked for you.

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

Hi, Peter.

Well, that didn't hurt anything. Those will work the buttons above the Fn keys.

As a last ditch effort, try these...

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

no luck I am afraid it would not load.......but just another question the first one did load so is there any reason to leave it as most of the buttons  above the f keys worked before ??

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

Hi, Peter:

If the QLB's worked before you installed the driver, I guess you don't need it but it won't hurt to retain it either.

I am afraid you will have do do without if that driver didn't load.

The only other thing I can recommend is to install the first version of the driver.

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

Hi Paul

the first driver will not load so I suppose I am going to have to carry on as it is......The laptop is old in real terms I suppose but it serves a purpose for me, my main pc is my Desk  top but now having W7 on the laptop I now have a home group which is very useful.

I would like to thank you for all your help it has been a great help and has solved most of the problems for me.

Thank you

Peter Perham........

Re: upgrading XP to Windows 7

You're most welcome, Peter.

I regret that I was unable to help you get your notebook running 100% on W7.

There is probably a hotkey driver version out there somewhere that would work, but unfortunately, I don't know which one it is.

Best regards,

Paul
