windows failed to start. Compaq CQ60 NB PC. Prod #NW156UA#ABA.

Windows failed to start, a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. It says to insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.  Choose your language settings, adn then click Next.  Click Repair your computer.  We do not have the disc and never made a recovery disc.  It is also saying An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuartion data. Our first error said Load Key Failed w/ error 1117 (STHIVE #0).

Yes, seen this before - without having an installation disc try starting up the computer and immediately hit F7 and do a repair disc. This will reinstall your operating system to original factory settings if in fact your hard drive was configured to load its factory OS

What will happen to anything that you have saved on your computer? Like photos etc.
