I have an old laptop: z5000, and I'm trying to tune it up. I added some ram (1.1 gig), and I was running Scannow, when it asked for the XP Home Edition CD. Well, I don't have the CD, and I don't remember if it even came with a CD. It may have been factory installed. Does z5000 have a recovery copy of XP in the PC? If not, what do I do?

You should be able use a Dell XP install cd, as long as it has the same service pack level (sp2, sp3) as the installation you are trying to run scannow on. Dell XP discs tend to be more common, see if a friend, relative or co-worker has one you can borrow or make a copy of.
I doubt HP has any XP disks left they can sell you, its up to you to find one unfortunately.

Thanks for your reply! I tried the Dell install disk, sp2, but it doesn't work because, I guess, the z5000 is sp3. I have another xp disk that has the Dell install disk, sp2 and sp3 melded together, but it didn't work either.
