8560w sound stuttering when playing music

Hi all,

I have the EliteBook 8560w for about a month now, and noticed sound stuttering when opening a new tab in IE/Chrome/Firefox. 

Since this is a quad-core setup with 8 GB of RAM this seems quite strange.

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

Configuration details:

P/N: XX058AV

CPU: i7 2630QM

RAM: 8 GB (2 x 4 GB, slots 1 and 4)

VGA: ATI FirePro M5950

HDD: WD3200BEKT (320 GB)

I have the 8560w, but noticed it always stutter at precisely 30 seconds.

When playing video, music or a game. Maybe its the same for you?

I have nvidia gfx card though.

I also have audio stutter when I play music about once a minute. When I watch video and the sound stutters, the video freezes for a second.

Reinstalling the audio driver did not help.

Are there any news on this?

After some googling I found that all you have to do is disable the HP Power Assistant service:

I've updated all of the drivers and the BIOS, and the problem is gone.

I really wanted to analyze what solved it, but hadn't had the time.

Had to check back in to say that the problem reemerged. Removing the HP Power Manager didn't help.
Will keep thread updated.

Solved this last night; deinstalled ALL preinstalled HP software, as well as drivers for networking and graphics (the ATI card also has a HDMI sound output).

I let Windows install their network driver complement, but replaced the ATI driver with the 8.911.3.1 version available here (http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/fire/Pages/fire_hp_win7.aspx).

I troubleshooted the issue using the "DPC Latency Checker" available here: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml.

Read the entire web site, as it offers some insights on how bad drivers can influence sound and video playback.

Hope this helps someone.

I am also facing the same issue. DPC latency is very high.

Do you know exactly which component or driver was causing the issue? Was it the Display Driver or the WLANs or something else ?

It was the HP power manage thing. The green icon.

I just uninstalled that one, and everything worked again.
