Re: Audio Doesnt Work...

It says under System Properties that it is SP3. I have currently tried installing KB835221.exe and after i installed sp33867.exe and sp41693.exe and my audio started working but it needed to restart and when it booted back up it was like I never did anything and my audio was back to square one... it was a major let down. Do you know if I did something wrong?

Re: Audio Doesnt Work...

So now we now what problem we have. Our problem is SP3 :smileyhappy: I'm not recommending installing SP3 because of problems with sound cards.

Try to install this MS-UAA for SP3 here

Reboot Your system after that and try to install one of the IDT drivers.

IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver,

1. sp41693, vista driver, reported work in XP here

2. sp39671, vista driver, reported works in XP here or here

This time it should be ok.

This was exactly what fixed my laptop! sp41693.exe was the one I installed and that fixed the problem with the mute button. :smileywink:

Re: Audio Doesnt Work...

All latest drivers and informations about XP downgrade may be found in Cheryl & Rakhmad guide:

General XP Downgrade Guide for HP Laptops.

How to find Bios update for specific model?

1. Enter HP site for your region.

2. Click on Support & Drivers link. (Upper right part of page which will show up.)

3. Choose option: Download drivers and software (and firmware)

4. In ' For product ' search box type your p/n.

    Resource:

How to Locate the Notebook p/n

5. Click on ' Go ' and choose your current system.

You will find there Bios update.

Important information!

It's very important to check compatibility section for this update to be sure then it is supported by system which you are using now. If it's not listed then I do not recommend to use it.

How to update Bios?

First check which Bios version you've got now. This information may be very helpful if ther will be any problem.

Connect the notebook to the AC power supply.

Disconnect from the internet. Exit from all programs that you are running. Switch off any anti-virus and firewall.

Execute the Bios update exe file. It may take some time. Allow the notebook to restart after applying the updated BIOS.

While this update is running do not:

  • switch off your laptop,
  • disconnect AC power supply,
  • try to run any software or do anything on it .

Bios update is always very risky and may corrupt your notebook. So be careful and have full patience. You will perform this update at your own risk.

@sriDinesh

Hi,
1. Post your part number (p/n) . You'll find it at the bottom of the laptop on a sticker, which looks like this.

2. Which system are you using on your notebook?
