XP drivers for Your model:
Intel Chipset (Install and reboot before other drivers) here
Intel Matrix Storage Manager here
MS-UAA for SP2 (required with a reboot before Audio, Modem and Graphic driver) here
MS-UAA for SP3 (required with a reboot before Audio, Modem and Graphic driver) here
Intel Graphic 4500MHD here
Broadcom Wireless here
Please check first this link written by Joshua Wood and concentrate in it on problems that may appear when You will be installing sound card. I know then this is guide for dv5 but many hardware and drivers are the same for both models.
IDT High-Definition Audio CODEC Driver,
1. sp41698, vista driver, reported work in XP here
2. sp41693, vista driver, reported work in XP here
3. sp39671, vista driver, reported works in XP here or here
4. If You still have old folder C:\Swsetup from Vista somewhere then audio drivers from there may also work for You.
When You will install any audio driver with success check is Your sound working.
If there will be no sound after restart check this thread. There are informations how to solve this.
High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem Installer and Driver here
.Net Framework (required before HP Quick Lunch Buttons) here
HP Quick Lauch Buttons here
Alps Touchpad here
Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet here
ENE CIR (Infrared Reciever) here
Cyberlink YouCam Software here (Your Vista driver)
JMB38X Card Reader Host Controller Driver here
If you had for 7 unknown devices (buttons drivers), here (New link)
Do manual installation
Go to device manager, right click unknown device,
Choose to update driver, No to connect,
Choose install from a list or specific location, Don't search, Have disk,
Browse to the location of machine.inf.
Do it for the rest of unknown devices.

1. SM Bus controller - chipset driver
2. video controller, video controller(VGA Compatable) - Intel graphic driver
3. my audio, the red mute light - HP Quick lunch buttons and audio drivers
I recommend installing system again and starting from the begining. The best results are always when chipset is installed first before other drivers.
Try also this guide:
First You need to slipstream Your Sata drivers (only ICH9M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller) with nLite.
Here is guide how to do it and here are Sata drivers for You. Just unrar this drivers with winrar.
Be sure also that You are using WinXP SP2 version. If you haven't got SP2 version here you can download this service pack
and here You have got guide how to slipstream this file with Your system again by nLite.
In this program You can even burn Your new XP cd with this driver.

Thank you soo much! I currently have all my drivers up to date but thats not what was bugging me... my audio and all but one lighted button don't respond... i looked in my device manager and i dont have any problems with any of the branches, and my wireless switch light is fine. I did notice that my mute light comes on when my computer is at the windows loading screen and then goes out just after...

Is this light button for mute working after loading windows?
Or maybe You have situation like this. Light doesn't work but key do eerything what it should do.

Ok, I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear... My mute button doesn't work at all but the light changes to white at the XP Windows loading screen then back to red. and I hear a quiet pop in the speakers. After windows loads and shows my desktop the button doesn't change when you tap it. and when I try to access my Volume (Start>Programs>Accessories>Entertainment>Volume Control) I get this error :
There are no active mixer devices available. To install mixer devices, go to Control Pannel, click Printers and Other Hardwar, and then click Add Hardware. This program will now close.
Under Device Manager>Sound, video and game controllers I have :
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media control Devices
Media control Devices
Video Codecs
All the Branches are updated with no errors. Yet my Audio is Still not working in any sense of the word.I hear no Sound While Booting or Shutting Down... And have recieved no other error messages.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.
For example:
<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>
When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

I Couldn't Install the "IDT Driver and Aplications" (sp41693). I got this error : The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT Software Package. The install will be aborted.
