Hi,
I did a very similar thing and accidently disabled my internal mike. Now when I open my sound recorder, I get an error message saying "Audio recording device not found". Will be grateful if you could inform me of the solution to this problem.
Thank you.

Hi,
I found a solution to this problem. All you need is to re-install the audio driver again. To do this just go to the HP Update Software that would be installed on your computer and search for updates. It would ask you to update your "Realtek Audio Driver".
Go ahead and update the driver, and it would install the internal mike as well. The error given by Sound Recorder would also stop coming.
PS : Anyways, thank you Daniel for your offer to help.

I tried the update thing and it did nothing. My sound works fine but every time I try to click sound recorder it says "An audio recording device cannot be found." I reinstalled the driver for my sound card but nothing seems to work. Help please.

Please - how did you fix this?
I'm having the same issue... it does not work to reinstall the drivers, disconnecting battery, pressing on-off-button down for a minute...
Please please - come back and tell us how you fixed this!

This helped:
Startmenu --> rightclick on computer --> Properties
Choose Device Manager
Press on "+" next to the Sound, Video and Game Controllers
Right click on the driver, and then choose "Update Driver"
Let windows install better drivers ![]()
Hope it helped, and good luck!
