Hello,
I need help, because I'm working and desperately need my laptop to perform perfectly.
I have a compaq 6530b, duo core 2,53 Ghz, 3 Gb RAM, running Win XP (s.p.3).
I experience CPU is unstable, and uses too much resources when working with music software.
I work with Cubase music software and an external USB audio card (E-MU 0404), all softwares and devices match the system requirements and should work properly and fine, but I have it quite difficult... due to an extreme instability of the CPU (it goes up and down, sometimes it is low, then suddenly gets 100%, then down again).
On other pc, with the same softwares, the CPU is not very loaded and works fine.
I tried to disable some programs on start up, and it goes a little bit better, but still Credential Manager, ActiveClient, and most of all ProtectTools, seem to eat the CPU usage... is it possible to disable them? Is it possible to have them running without CPU problems? Is the video card installed on this model sharing memory? Is it possible to change its setting or change it with a less CPU-using one?
The laptop is very seldom connected to the internet (just to register softwares) and I run no videogames.
Sorry for so many questions around the subject, but I need help to work (I'm travelling and need it a lot).
Thanks in advance for your kind help.
