HDMI laptop to TV connection - audio popping sounds

This likely should be a new topic but I cannot navigate this site to find how to post new topics.  If someone would be kind enough to tell me ...

Meanwhile, hear is my audio problem: when I connect my HDX X16 1200E|O laptop to my Panasonic HDMI TV - I have windows 7 - 64 bit - I hear popping "cork-like" sound every few seconds.  I have surround sound but have to turn on TV speakers as I haven't setup audio for surround yet.  I am playing NetFlix on tv.  Audio is good otherwise as is video.  Any suggestions?  Do I change audio settings on TV or on laptop (or both)?

Hi, I am having same problem with HDMI, only that when I right-click on the volume in taskbar, the 'Nvidia HDMI output' shows 'It is not plugged in'. I have updated the drivers, followed all the steps in this forum, but I havent been able to fix it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

When I click on the audio icon there is only one choice, I can't default to anything else.  Any other ideas?

Try right-clicking in the sound properties box and enabling the "show disabled devices" option.

I'm having a similar problem.  I called HP and spoke for a 20 minutes with someone.  Finally, they told me that they could help me, but it would cost $49.99 because the computer warranty was no longer valid - even though i bought a five-year warrantly at the store.  In total, I wasted about 30 minutes trying to get HP to assist me with something that they admitted they could resolve in about 10 minutes.  They refused to help unless I paid them in full.  I am very dissatisfied with my HP laptop, and I will never buy another computer from this company. I've had nothing but problems ever since I got it, and the customer service has been horrible.

I was having the same problem I couldnt get the sound from my tv but was getting the visual display via HDMI from my laptop.

My fix was simple:

Turn your TV off and than turn it back on.

I tried that.  It doesn't work.  I've tried uploading all the drivers on the HP website. I've updated the BIOS.  Nothing has worked.  When I turn the HDMI on in the Control Panel the blue bars bounce up and down as if there is sound, but no sound comes out the TV.  My mom has a similar HP TV with a similar Panasonic Viera TV, and when I configured her TV for her, the Panasonic TV just showed up in the Control Panel. I selected it, and it worked, no problem... Can't get it to work for me though.  What bothers me most at this point is that person at HP said they could fix the problem in ten minutes, but they wouldn't unless I paid them $50.  Some technical support!
