Hey guys. I have an HP pavillion DV6700 special edition laptop. It was originally intended to run Vista Ultimate but I have since backed up the software and drivers shipped with it and upgraded to Windows 7 Pro. A bit of a rocky process locating drivers and everything, but it;s running pretty smoothly now. I tell you this in case it has something to do with my current problem.
I recently bought an HDMI cable for my laptop. I am only getting video through it. Isn't it supposed to transmit both video and audio? Is there some way I have to tell it to re-route the audio signal? Any help would be appreciated.

For what its worth......
I have a one year old HP G60 series notebook with win7 which also has an HDMI jack .I also just only get the video.I did some research on "notebook HDMI outputs" and one of the sites informed me that there is an internal connection that the manufacturer needs to make between the audio output and the HDMI input. It mentioned that many pc vendors did not make this connection. I would surmise that we fall into this catagory. Too bad , I was also dissapointed.

Try updating your graphics/video driver... usualy HDMI audio is bundled within the video driver update/installer
