Equip: New Vista equipped HDX16 (1056ca) with HPw2207h monitor (w/speakers) via HDMI connection.
I am getting sound through the Monitor speakers but not through any of the two headphone jacks at the front right of the laptop into which I am trying to plugin my external speakers.
I have tried changing the settings in "Control Panel > Sounds" ( in which both the monitor and headphone jacks appear) by making the Independent Dual Heaphones jack the default device with no results. I even tried disabling the monitor completely as a sound device but sound still comes out of the monitor. The settings in the resident IDT HD Sound utility also have the "Speakers and Dual Headphones" set as the default playback device and my volume sliders are all turned up everywherein IDT and elsewhere on the pc. Oh, and when I unplug the HDMI plug from the laptop no sound comes out of anywhere.
HOWEVER, when I "test" the speakers in both the control panel and IDT I successfully get a test sound coming through my external speakers.,...so the ports do work but only when I test the speakers which leads me to believe that it's driver issue but what do I know.

I'm having the same problem where my headphone jacks only work on the left side and not the right.
Anyone know about a fix for this yet?
I'm not impressed by HP at all on this one...being a new customer.
