I am having problems with the audio in my laptop, the problem is that the audio keeps playing outside the headphone and through the laptop, this is seriously inconvenient and it disrupts the whole experience of multi-tasking and if anyone out there has any idea how to help to fix this problem, please help, it would be really welcomed and I along with other users would benefit from your knowledge and help. Thanks in advance

D3wB3rry,
Option 1:
It all might be as simple as the following:
Right-Click Sound (icon from the Taskbar) > Playback Devices > Playback >
Click on "Speakers and Headphones" >
If not already done (GREEN CHECKED) then, Click to "Set Default" > OK
See the Communications Headphones in the list? If your headphones have builtin microphones (like those used on headsets (that connect to phones) and gaming consoles), those might be called "communications headphones".
--------------------------------------------------
Option 2:
When you are using your Headphones, you can mute the notebook speakers to prevent sound coming from the speakers at the same time you are hearing sound from the headphones.
Right-Click Sound (icon from the Taskbar) > Open Volume Mixer > "Speakers and Headphones" >
Click on and switch it to "mute" >
--------------------------------------------------
Option 3:
If the Headphones do not "switch over" automatically when you want to use them for your Skype call, you can manually select the Headphones in "Tools" in Skype.
You can select which microphone you are using and which speakers / headphones.
Depending on your Skype Version, the path to the options may be similar to the following.
(Open) Skype > Tools > Options > Audio settings > (Section Speakers) >
Select from the Drop down menu
"Communications Headphones"
OR
"Speakers and Headphones"
--------------------------------------------------
I am doing this blind and your other post mentioned a friend on another computer. You may have to switch this back and forth a couple of times to get it just right. The point is that you can turn off the speakers and use just the Headphones.
Remember the Skype options to control what Skype is doing. Once the computer knows what you want, you can convince Skype to do what you want, too.
I hope this helps.
Good Luck!

Actually it does work after all... kind of
I had to restart my app (Traktor) after making the settings changes however the bass/mids gets cut from the speakers when I plug the headphones in. Very strange and very undesirable operation. Can anyone from HP figure this out?

I spoke too soon: No it does not work in DJ mode. For some bizarre reason the speaker output can not be diverted since HP gives us two headphone jacks and no line-out jack.
And this "Beats Audio" is a marketing scam. As a music producer I can tell you the speakers sound terrible no matter how much Dr Dre is paid to endorse them. Bring back the JBL speakers that Compaq used to use. Invest in hardware not hype.

Hello safdarzaman. I understand sound is being played from both your headphones and speakers.
What is the product number of your notebook? This document can show you where it is located.
What version of Windows are you using?
A good place to begin is to uninstall your driver and allow Windows to reinstall the driver. Try the following.
- Navigate to your Device Manager.
- Expand the section named "Sound, video, and game controllers."
- Right click on your audio device and select Uninstall. Note the name and post it here as well.
- After the uninstallation is complete reboot your notebook.
- When Windows loads it'll automatically reinstall the drivers.
- Verify whether the problem is resolved and post the result.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply. I hope you have a great day!
