Hi Jerome,
some notebooks there might be only one speaker
It could be an actual hardware issue the speaker non functional, or a software issue where in the left speaker volume level is set to zero
Right click on the speaker symbol at the system tray and click on play back devices
a new window play back devices will show up. right click on spepakers /hp and click on properties.
and click on levels tab. then click on balance . check to see if the L is not set to zero. if it is set to try increasing the level to 50+
even after this if the left speaker is not working. you may try to reinstall the Audio driver .
and check, to see if it works.
check if everything works fine with external speakers, headphones,
Thanks if the above steps helps you to resolve. please click on Kudos.

Hi Jerome,
If you have tried all these steps and still does not work.
you have to back up the data and restore the system back to factory settings.
(please note when you perform system recovery all your data will be lost hence please back up anything that you feel is important.. let it be any files or pictures, music, videos, emails stored. or favourites.everything has to be backed up. Once you are done with Back up.
follow the above link for recovery.
Start the Computer and start tapping F11 and from the recovery manager select System Recovery.
(make sure that the ac adapter is plugged in and remove any external peripherals like extn. HDD, flash drivers printer.
If it still does not work after recovery ,
send in the notebook for getting it repaired. if the notebook is still under factory or extended warranty it will be repaired free of cost. please call our support at 1 800 474 6836
Thanks .

after i reinstalled the sound driver. both left and right speaker is not working anymore.
i'd like to bring it to HP Service center here in the philippines but the problem is the receipt is not with me because this laptop is a gift from my uncle he bought it in U.S.A.
The question is can i still use the warranty even if the receipt is not with me?
can i use the warranty here in the philippines even if my uncle bought it in U.S.A. ??
If yes, what are things that i need to bring other than my HP Pavilion g7-1257dx Notebook PC?
i need a imediate response.
thank you!

Hi,
By Default All Consumer Notebooks Have International Travellers warranty for the Factory Warranty (1year for new notebook and 90 days for Refurbished notebooks)
It will be done on Best effort basis provided the Notebook is marketed in the country where you are living.
now after reinstalling if both the speakers are not working looks like a software or driver issue hence i would recommend you to do the following steps.
Go to Device manager
click on the Arrow next to sound, audio and game controllers.
right click on the audio device and the codec you find there and click on uninstall. and check the box that says delete driver. for both of them and then restart the system .
click on Start and type in recovery manager. open the recovery manager. click on the Hardware driver resintallation option. or reinstall drivers and application. option ..
check for the Audio device. and click on install.
after install restart the system . check if you are getting sound. if still you are not getting sound. back up your data and restore it to factory settings. (ensure that you take back up of data before performing Factory reinstall)
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?cc=us&l
link for your notebook all resources including drivers reinstall, solve problems and manuals.
If you are not getting sound from the notebook even after factory reinstall..
then you may contact HP locally to get the notebook sent in for repair (If your computer is within the 1 year factory warranty then you are elligible for International Travellers warranty, and you may contact the below phone numbers.
if the model that you have is marketed and available in the country where you are it will be repaired.under factory warranty.
