HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook, Windows 7, Beats Audio. Audio output.

Audio output on headphones is pulsing (volume increasing and decreasing).  Can't tell on speakers.  Any solutions?

Re: HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook, Windows 7, Beats Audio. Audio output.

Hi,

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the IDT HD Audio driver ( this will also reinstall the Beats Audio interface ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook and see if this has improved the issue.

Regards,

Re: HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook, Windows 7, Beats Audio. Audio output.

I'm sorry but this solution DOES NOT work. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers by the recovery manager and followed the above directions to no avail. I also did an update to the latest driver since I got my dv6t-7000 and still have the same problem. There is another thread that's growing with people having the same problem and they also tried your solution to no luck.

http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/Volume-Swings-During-Songs-with-Beats-Audio...

Volume would stil increase and decrease on its own. It is more pronounce when the bass setting in Beats Audio Control panel is turned up from the default setting. The volume fluctuates more noticeably when the bass and overall music kicks in from a quiet state. It almost seems like the beats audio software or the sound card driver is trying to normalize the volume unsuccessfully.

It is really annoying since I'm a music enthusiast. Using an external sound card fixes the problem but I didn't get the laptop with beats audio so that I can carry around sound card. I'm suspecting it's either the beats audio software or the IDT driver. Can someone from HP or beats audio help?

I am seeing this problem too.  It does seem like some software or driver is normalizing the volume, but must be a terrible algorithm.  I looked for a setting to turn it off, but its nowhere to be found in either beats or windows 7.  Please provide assistance, as the audio quality was supposed to be a selling point for me.

I have the same trouble.  Just finished chat session with tech support.  He had me reload driver...didn't fix anything.  I was told my laptop needed to be repaired and the process would take 7-9 business days at the nearest HP repair center.  No acknowledgment of driver issue mentioned in other thread.  I'm not buying it's hardware related.

[ Edited ]

I have the same issue with my DV7 7008tx.

I bought it to run Ableton for music production, amongst other things hoping the Beats Audio will aid me with portable work. When I run through an external sound card I have no issues however when running or listening to anything for that fact through the built-in speakers or my headphones the music is being normalized by the driver.

This obviously causes massive issues when trying to produce music.

HP, {Content Removed: Language} come up with a valid solution.

Re: HP Pavillion dv6 Notebook, Windows 7, Beats Audio. Audio output.

HP has released a fix for the problem!

Go to hp.com and look for the updated drivers page.  I believe all models with the volume equalization issue (at least the dv6 and dv7 models) have an HD Audio Driver update that fixes the issue.  It is the one that was released on 8/24.  There is another HP forum that discusses the issue and everyone who has updated the driver seems to have fixed their audio problems.

Hope that helps... better late than never...
