HP Quicktouch on screen display has stopped working and no audio output device is detected.

-about 5 days ago

3.  Do you have QuickLauch Buttons?

-yes

4.  Have you received error regarding QuickLaunch Buttons (something like... QL buttons OnScreen stopped working)?

-yes the both the same time

5.  How old was your computer when problems started (different than Q#2), ie, is it still under warranty? 

-about 2 1/2 and not under warranty

Wow! You would think that after 49 pages and 482 posts HP would at least recognize that there is an widespread issue and offer a recall or free fix for this problem! I first posted in this thread in Oct 2009 and still no solution? Meanwhile I still have my laptop because other than the sound and the CD drive not working, it still works pretty well. I bought an external sound card and speakers so I could have sound but can't import CDs onto my itunes, which is not a good situation for a musician. Plus I really can't spend the money on a new laptop right now, but as soon as I do get the money, I will buy a new laptop and one thing's for sure, it WILL NOT be an HP!

I was going to ask as well. I gave up on the problem long ago. I gave up on HP in general.

I'm not aware of any recall.

well it wasn't a recall it was a service enhancement for the dv6000/dv9000/dv2000/f500/f700 There was the issue of power no post, no display, no power and wifi card not detected. This is another part of the problem with that chipset no sound and cd/dvd drive stops working and so forth.

Where is the info on it? Besides no sound I have an issue with the CD drive not working and sometimes windows fails to start too.

This is a hardware problem my friends. Try and read through this thread:

No output device is installed

I gave up all hope that this is ever going to be fixed. Instead of dishing out money for repairs, get another laptop. Just stay away from HP.
