How do I disable power assistant?

How do I disable power assistant on my HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC? I think it is the cause of a problem with my audio quality; every 30 seconds or so when listening to music etc. there is a strange buzzing static noise, and other members have said that the power assistant and wireless assistant can be disabled to solve this problem. Is this a good idea? If so how do I disable them?
