Mute button on HP Pavilion dv7 stays on mute and sound is on

I had an issue with my sound, but now the sound is on, but the amber light on the laptop stays lite. How do I get the light to go out? The sound issue I had prior to this was fixed so I can now hear my videos and internal noise, but this light now is on all the time. Why is that?  i tried every program so far to try to shut it off, and I can't get if to go out. Please help

Hi,

 

The functionality of the mute LED is provided by the Audio driver so try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your original Audio Driver ( this will probably be IDT, but may be Realtek or Conexant ) - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

 

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

 

Recovery Manager - Windows Vista

 

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook and check if the mute button functions correctly.
