My Pavilion dv6 speakers are not working

My Laptop's speakers have recently stopped working. The only time they will work is when skype loads up or is shut down, or if I am talking to someone on skype and I watch a video on youtube or netflix, the sound of the video will come through my laptop's speakers instead of the headphones I am using to hear the call on skype.

I am currently running windows 7.

u just need to update BIOS from Hp.com/support

i have downloaded the BiOS update as well as the IDT speakers drivers too..my speakers *still* dont work...what else can i do??

I have the same issue, sound only works through speakers when skye opens and shuts down.

I have the same problem in DV6Z with Windows 7 Home Premium, the speaker only works during skype open or close. But also when I plug the microphone jack or headphone jacks in headphone plugin.
