No Sound Speakers on computer not working, but head phones are for HP Pavilion Dv7 [ Edited ]

The speakers on my Hp Pavilion DV7-3164cl have stopped working. The only time sound works is when I use headphones or hook up the computer to my tv. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the IDT High Definition Audio Codec (Driver Version 6.1.6345.0) and the ATI High Definition Audio Device (Driver Version 5.0.7000.6) for my computer via device manager. I recently updated the HP Support program for my computer, but even when I tried to do a system restore it didn't fix the problem.  I'm begining to think it could be a faulty wiring issue, but I'm not sure how to fix that. Any ideas?

Hi,

As a last try you can perform a recovery on the computer (Reset to factoy settings) by tapping F11 as soon as you turn it ON. Make sure to have your data backed up before doing recovery.

If recovery also doesnt help then it has to be speaker issue. To fix that you can call HP Technical Support to get it replaced if you still have a warranty on the notebook.

That seems like it would be quite a bit of work. Do you know if there is any way to test whether it's the speaker wiring without having to format everything first?
