I just recently lost sound on my laptop, I believe after I performed an automatic update. There is a red X on my sound icon and when I right click to open the volume mixer it states "No audio device is installed". I have checked under control panel, device manager it states that the Conexant High Definition Audio is installed and working properly but I am unable to hear any sound from my onboard speakers or headset. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall the drivers and downgrade the driver (Conexant CX20549) but nothing appears to be working. I'm not sure if this is another side effect but I can't get my DVD player to register that there is a disc inserted. I have ran a virus scan and antispyware software and everything came back clean. Can anyone provide any assistance? Thank you!
