No audio on TV when connecting HP dv9930us to Sony Bravia xBR via HDMI

Please, help !

 

Excellent video, but no audio on the TV when I connect my HP dv9930us Laptop to my 37" HDTV Sony Bravia XBR via HDMI.

Whether the HDMI cable is connected or nor, the sound comes only from the computer's speakers. 

 

Computer:

  1. Model HP dv9930us
  2. CPU Intel Core2Duo.T5750 2,00 GHz
  3. RAM 4GB
  4. OS MS Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bits SP2
  5. Sound Adapter Realtek High Definition Audio 
  6. Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
  7. Video Player Amazon Unbox, iTunes, VLC, etc 

 

Sound and video drivers up to date.

 

What should I do ?

I am having exactly the same problem with a panasonic TV - spent all evening trying to figure it out and searching help but no joy. Did someone give you an answer?
