No audio output device installed, no sound device in the device manger to change anything

Sound stopped working on my HP pavilion dv2000. The speaker icon on the bottom right reads No audio output device. Reinstalled Conexant/High Definition Audio Driver didnt help. Went to device manger and there is no sound device to click on to try and change anything.
