I am currently experiencing this problem for almost 2 years and I only had the time to post this now. I can't hear any audio in my notebook unless I use our magicJack as the audio driver. Here is a picture when trying to install a sound driver.
In my Device Manager
I hope somebody can solve this problem. Thanks ![]()

Hi,
I cannot see your images yet. I will have to wait for them to be approved by one of the Mods.
Please identify your dv4000 series notebook by its p/n. Remove the bayyery and look in the compartment for the p/n.
Post all alphanumeric characters here in your thread.
What is the installed operating system?
Post a screenshot of your sound properties window and Device Manager as in the images from my HP notebook show.

I can't find a p/n at the battery compartment but I saw a p/n at the back of my laptop, if it's what you're asking here it is.
p/n : EC321UA#ABA
And here are the same pictures in the first post.

Thanks for the images and the product name. There is no HD audio driver installed!
Your notebook is a dv4155cl.
Here is where the drivers are located. Choose the appropriate operating system and download the driver and install it. You did not state which OS is installed. The web portal shows XP as the OS. Is that what is installed? There is no support for any other OS at the web support portal for your notebook.

Sorry for that. Yes, I am running in Windows XP. I'll give it a try.
--EDIT--
I have already tried installing the driver but all it says is the same with this.

It is Microsoft Universal Audio Architechture.
Take a read of this and try the Microsoft Fixit.
