No sound in my HP Pavillion dv4000

Hi,

I'm having problems with my HP Paviliion dv4000 soundcard. I have installed the drivers but still I can't hear any sounds and at the sound playback(Sounds and Audio Devices Properties) I can only choose magicJack as my default device. My question is, will it work by just using a USB Speaker? Thanks

Hi

You have a couple of options as I see it.

Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.

Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.

Yes your USB Speaker should work fine without issue.

Can I make a system restore if I have formatted my laptop multiple times already? I also tried updating my Audio & Bios but still no work.

Btw, the problem started 3 years ago I think? :/

Hi

System restore is the date where unit was working fine if you have already done a recovery on the unit restore will not work. This case best option is to use the external speaker and have it checked.
