No sound when connecting my notebook HP Probook 4530s to my TV (HDMI connection)

Greetings everyone,

this may seem as the typical problem that many people have faced but my situation is a bit different. The video on the TV is fine and so are the sound settings. Ie the HDMI is set to default, it's enabled. What's more (and more curious), when I connected my laptop to another TV (as a matter of fact it's the same model as mine but smaller). Nothing has changed ever since but yet the problem occured. The notebook is the HP Probook 4530s with Windows 7 originally installed. The TV is the Samsung LE23R86BD. Any suggestion would help as I am starting to lose it with this issue! Thanks!

You have a couple of options as I see it.

Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.

Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.

Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.

I did everything you mentioned, but the problem persists, unfortunately. What else coud I do?

The last option is to do a Factory reset after this also if the issue is not fixed then issue is with Hardware you might have to call HP technical support and get the repair done.

But how come there was no problem when I plugged the cable in the other TV set?

I guess you mean with the other TV set. 3 days ago when I last checked it was working fine. (Apparently I can't test it now as I am currently residing at the city of my university.)

Please try checking with a different TV & have it check you will get to know if the issue is with NB Or TV.

I had the same issue with my probook 4530s

After connecting the HDMI audio only came from the laptop and not the TV

Solution:

go into (sound) in the control panel while the TV is connected viva HDMI

Then select your TV as the sound output.

After this is done your computer will remember the settings that were selected while the TV is connected.

My fix was easier, in control panel (windows 7) , click 'Hardware & Sound' - manage audio devices- check to see the laptop speakers are default.

For some reason the laptop had changed the default t headphones that were no longer attached. Go figure, but that will be my first port of call next time. If the speakers/HP icon is not displayed reinstall your audio drivers. Something in the way the aodio software/ hardware management software is set up seems to change the configuration when other devices have been plugged in.
