I have a DV8000 notebook and have disabled, enable, unistalled and re-installed the sound card. I go to the Support & Drivers area and install the correct sound card but still have no sound coming from the computer. Can anyone help me???
I have Windows XP.

I have a dv6000 vista notebook and lost audio after a windows update, I believe. Tried everything I could think of. Uninstall driver, reinstall, check all settings, run all trouble-shooters, everything came back normal except for sound from the speakers. I can get sound if I plug in headphones or use the expansion port's audio plugs, but that's it.
If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it greatly. It kinda sucks having a laptop and no sound to go along with it.
Thanks!

Hey, i was having the same problem and this is what I did. Trust me i researched and its not BS. The main problem is your Power button ribbon which is faulty. If you have warranty, call them and just them you need that replaced. If not go to ebay.com and type DV6000 power button ribbon. I bought mine for $25. Then when you get it, you can try to replace it by using the videos from HP or I took it to a computer repair shop and paid $65. It fixed it. You dont fix this then the ribbon causes other problems like your power button switch will stop lighting up or you have to start pushing harder on the power button to turn it on.
Go to youtube.com and type DV6000 problems, you will see a video from Slicer17 and the it will say "I fixed Mine" thats where I started my research.

Hey thanks for the advice about ebay and youtube.com! I was sooo lost when my speakers stopped working the other day! Now at least I know what issue is...without calling technical support.
Thanks again!
