Pavilion DV6000 NO Audio

I have a HP Pavilion DV6000 laptop with Vista OS. I've been trying to fix it.

The audio does not work. It comes on whenever it wants to but it only comes on for a short period of time. When it stops working, there is no sound. It is not on mute. I even did a sound test and it does not work. Checked on Device Manager, it says that it is working.

Sometimes when I start my laptop, the sound icon on the taskbar has a red X on it. Saying: " No Audio Output Device is Installed." Checked on DeviceManager, it was missing.

Tried to download audio drivers from HP site and recieved an error message: "Driver Installation Failed: Could not find the MEDIA device for this driver."

I even tried the no sound fix it from Microsoft.com. It did not work. It did not help at all.

It wants to work, when it wants to work. HELP!! THANKS.

I have the same problem on a brand new laptop... a little frustrated.. all audio tests fail..

what to do???
