Pavilion dv6000 / Speakers; Headphones

[ Edited ]

I have a Pavilion dv6500 with Vista Ultimate. I sent my computer into HP to be fixed after some problems, and was very pleased with it, but there has been one problem with my laptop now. WHen i put in headphones or external speakers, my computer recognizes the headphones, but do not disable the speakers on my computer and play through the headphones. I have to manually disable my speakers and then put in my headphones. Is there any thing i can do so my computer will automatically disable my headphones when i insert headphones?

Thanks,

-Patrick

Re: Pavilion dv6000 / Speakers; Headphones

This is a driver issue with the Conexant Smart Audio 221 sound driver. Simply updating the driver should fix the issue:

new sound driver

Re: Pavilion dv6000 / Speakers; Headphones

It would really help to know the exact model number. Look on the tag on the bottom. It should be 4 specific numbers and two letters like dv6643ea or something like that. Or, if you at least know if it is Intel or AMD that would help, too.
