Pavilion g6 Sound Does Not Work Suddenly

[ Edited ]

I came on my computer after a BiOS update and the sound did not worked. I tried to update my driver through Windows Update and through the HP Support Assistant and it did not work. Not even the headphones will work. I have looked inside of my Volume Mixer and it is playing sounds but I can't hear them. I have even tried restarting PC about 3 times now. Please help!

Re: Pavilion g6 Sound Does Not Work Suddenly

Hi,

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55036.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services.  Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic

Audio Service

Multimedia Class Scheduler

Windows Audio

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type',  select Automatic and click Apply to save the change.  Then click the Start button.

Regards,

DP-K

My speakers suddendly didnt work properly as well.

if i turn volume to 100%, the sound still is very very low, has crappy quality and only the left speaker has any sound, but if i plug in some headphones, they work perfectly without any issues.

I installed the asio4all driver for traktor pro 2 (a dj software) before i recognized the problem. i dont know if the sound was working immediatly before the installation, but it definetly worked earlier the same day. asio4all as well as traktor have been uninstalled already without any changes to the problem.

i already tried all solutions explained above but nothing changed at all.

i hope somebody can help me out here :/

Re: Pavilion g6 Sound Does Not Work Suddenly

Hello Jaytrox,

Your sound is not working correctly.

If it has not been to long since the problem started, you can run a system restore.

This will take the system back to when everything was working correctly without affecting your personal files.

Here is a link  on how to do a restore.

Let me know how everything goes.

Have a good day.
