I have recently formatted my Presario C710TU laptop and installed Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 3 and have had a bit of a pain installing all the drivers... I've looked around the internet searching but have been stumped for days. Heres details of the issue:
I have no audio at all and in device manager there is a missing "PCI Device". I have tried several drivers all with a result of (not verbatim) "The MEDIA device was not found" which is most likely the wrong driver completely.
My laptop did not come with any CD's
Here is an image of device manager and other relevant information: http://i40.tinypic.com/iftlkg.jpg
Here is a text version of what is shown in the image:
- Missing "PCI Device" -- Vendor 8086 (Intel), Device 284B, SUBSYS_30D9103C, REV_03, 3&B1BFB68&0&D8
- Motherboard info: Model 30D9
---- Chipset: Intel | GL960
---- Southbridge Intel | 82801HBM (ICH8-ME)
- Dxdiag: Notes show that no audio card can be found and that drivers are needed.
- Other: There is no volume icon in the task bar indicating no audio device.
These are some drivers i have tried:
sp32823 - Conexant High Definition Audio Driver 3.18.0.50
sp36090 - Conextant CX20549-12 high definition audio driver
sp34200
sp33867 - Microsoft universal audio architecture bus driver for high definition audio
This is all of the information I can think of to mention about the situation.
Bandaids and free coffee didn't even make the laptop fix it's self so this could be a tough one so thanks in advance for any help in finding my lost cat... er I mean fix my laptop...

Just bought an HP MIni 1030NR with XP Home SP3; Upgraded to XP Professional SP2 and lost some drivers in the process. Most of the drivers were in the recovery CD except for one ?PCI DEVICE with a yellow mark in device driver.
Details: Device Instance Id
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_2708&SUBSYS_361A103C&REV_02\3&115
HP support told me they cant help me; gave me a link for a chipset driver which didnt work
The PC seems to be working fine; do i even have to bother getting the drivers?
thanks, much
