Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

I performed the operations you listed.  Still no audio.

I checked the services you listed again.  Again, all were "Status=Started" and "Startup=Automatic" except for:

Multimedia Class Scheduler shows "Status"= (blank) and "Startup=Automatic".

I was again able to change the Multimedia Class Scheduler to "Status=Started", so now all the services are "Status=Started" and "Startup=Automatic".

I ran the diagnostic again, it reports "not fixed"

The Taskbar icon still shows "no audio output device is installed", the right-click information is still the same.

Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

Hi,

Try using Recovery Manager to reinstall the original IDT Audio Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.

Recovery Manager - Windows 7

After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook - does the Taskbar icon still show 'no audio output device installed?

Regards,

Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

I used Recovery Manager Windows 7 to reinstall the original IDT Audio Driver.  (By the way, this is the way I started this adventure.)

I restarted, no sound.  The Taskbar icon still shows "no audio output device is installed", the right-click information is still the same.  I did a hard reset again; no change.

I rechecked the services you listed earlier. The results were the same as they were after the first time I reinstalled the original IDT Audio Driver.

All were "Status=Started" and "Startup=Automatic" except for these:

Audio Service shows "Status"= (blank) and "Startup=Automatic".

Multimedia Class Scheduler shows "Status"= (blank) and "Startup=Automatic".

I was able to change the Multimedia Class Scheduler to "Status=Started" and "Startup=Automatic".

When I attempted to change the Audio Service to "Status=Started", the system returned a dialog box with the message:

"The Audio Service on Local Computer started and then stopped.  Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs."

I ran the diagnostic again, it reports the same "not fixed" and within,  "The audio device you selected is currently turned off in Windows".

Hi,

Hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run Box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the System Configuration window, click the Startup tab and let me know if you have an entry called IDT PC Audio listed here?

Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

Hi,

Ok, once again, hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run Box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the System Configuration window, click the Startup tab and remove the tick in the box next to each entry apart from IDT PC Audio.  Click Apply and Ok to save this change and then restart the notebook for the change to take effect.

When windows has reloaded, see if you can now get all the services below to show as started.

Audio Service

Multimedia Class Scheduler

Windows Audio

Windows Audio Endpoint Builder

Does the Audio Service now remain in the 'Started' state or still stop?

If it will now remain started, do you have audio?

Whatever the result of this, for know, re-enable your Start-up items for now - hold down the Windows key and press R.  In to the Run Box type msconfig and hit enter.  In the System Configuration window, click the Startup tab and re- tick in the box next to each entry.  Click Apply and Ok to save this change and then restart the notebook for the change to take effect again.

Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

I did an experiment this morning to see if I could get audio on the notebook.  I launched the HP Quickweb upon restart instead of Windows and I was able to play audio.  It seems that this is a Windows 7 problem.  I'm not sure what the Quickweb uses for a sound driver, but it works.  Can this information help resolve the problem in Windows?

Re: Reinstalled IDT audio driver now no sound on HP Mini 210-1100 Windows 7

Hi,

Right click an empty area of the Taskbar and select Task Manager.  Click the button 'Show processes for all users'.  Use windows snipping tool ( see the guide in the document on the link below ) to take a screen shot of Task Manager - you will probaly need to take Two screenshots to be able to include all the running processes.  Upload these images with your next post.

Using Windows 7 Snipping Tool.
