HP Advisor is a very buggy app_I never trust it for updates.I also turned it off in the settings to never start up with Windows. Now I may run it from the icon occasionally, but not often.

I first received a windows message that my PMCloader had stopped working after using a USB TV tuner (Pennacle TVPro Center).
Upon closing that message window, another one stated that the Sigmatel C-Major Audio Driver was at fault.
HP's website listed another driver as the correct one for my model computer. Upon loading it, I lost all my audio functions. I tried to "restore" back to the previous version, but still NO audio. To finally fix the problem here's what I had to do:
Go to: Control Panel
Select: Device Manager
Select: sound, video, and game controllers
Select: appropriate driver (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC or Intel High Definition Audio HDMI) (or both, one at a time is what I did to be sure)
Select: Driver tab
Select: Update Driver
Select: Search Automatically for Updated Driver
New updated drivers were installed and all my audio function are back to normal.
Needless to say the Pennacle TV Tuner is out the window, because everytime I use it I get the massage "PMCloader stopped working".
Someone please answer this: Where the heck did the Sigmatel C-Major Audio Driver come from. This is what supposedly caused my problems, but I didn't even find it listed as a driver in Device Manager.
But whatever you do, DON'T load supposed updated drivers from HP's website, these crashed ALL my audio functions, even ones that were working.

Hi people of the wild cyber world. I too have the DV4-1275MX bought from Best Buy. I have had nothing but software issues as well. I have tried my best to work with what I have but HP tech support is useless. Their answer to everything is to restore or "we don't deal in the software issues" WTF!? They made this pile of programs fit together? Why does HP refer me to Microsoft, and Microsoft refer me back to HP or ask to charge?
OK, as for the Sigmatel C-Major Auto Driver updates, yes, it can be resolved
by going to start,
typing device in the search,
chose Device Manager,
slide down the list to sound,
video and game controls,
and chose IDT,
now update that by right clicking and follow the prompts.
YES, IDT is Sigmatel C Major Audio. Some said they didn't see anything for Sigmatel
But this is justone in a long list of problems I am having with this supposedly higher quality laptop.
I am also having problems mixing sound using the built in mic along with the external mic ports. I need the mic to pick up my voice but mix in system sounds and sounds played on media players. I found my HP Pavilion a1473w desktop has better mixing than this crud!
Thanks for listening and I hope I helped at least one person! (((master(remove)mind(remove)user(remove)@(remove)
