Hello, and thanks for any help in advance.
I recently downgraded from Vista to XP Professional and everything has gone well, save for my audio. The laptop has no sound and in dxdiag's Sound tab nothing is listed at all. In Device Manager it lists the audio drivers that I've reinstalled (the same ones that were on it before the OS reinstallation), but this doesn't allow me to change to these Conexant drivers in the "Sounds and Audio Devices" page of XP. I've already installed the Universal Audio Architecture from Microsoft; before I installed the UAA it wouldn't even allow me to install the Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers.
So now I'm sort of at a loss as to what to do. I need to know the standard sound card that comes with the HP Pavilion dv6700us so that I can install the proper drivers. Can any owner of one of these help me out?
Any other suggestions would be appreciated, I'm going crazy!!!

Hi,
MS-UAA for SP2 (required with a reboot before Audio and Modem driver) here
MS-UAA for SP3 (required with a reboot before Audio and Modem driver) here
Conexant High-Definition Audio here
Unzip to a folder..use Device Manager, right click "Audio Device on HD",choose Update driver,
No to connect,
Install from a list or specific location,
Select Don't Search, I will choose the driver to install,
For the Hardware Type select 'Show All Devices'
Remove the check from "Show Compatible Hardware" and click on "Have Disk".
Next...browse to the unzipped folder and choose the "WiSVHe5.inf".
Ignore XP when it complains.
Reboot.

Thanks buddy! I was just coming on here to say that I found some instructions that worked, and you posted those very same instructions.
Might have been a forum that you posted in before, because they are strikingly similar.
It is appreciated and I'm relieved to have the sound working once more.

First of all let me say happy new year. I have had this computer for a while now. The brand is HP Pavilion dv9818nr. I got it from my relatives in the USA. So i have no idea as to how long they had this computer. Anyway whenever i play my music i'm not hearing any sound coming from the sppeakers. At the moment it has a red X at the speakers. Also my disc drive is not working, the computer cuts off; i have it in a cooling fan right now, and it over heats. Thank you for your help. God bless.
