Speakers not working!

Hi,

I am using HP Touchsmart tm2 on windows 7, audio is not audible from the speakers, whereas it is perfect using earphones, but the strange thing is that whenever skype starts or ends i can hear the skype start/end sounds on the speakers.

Any help will be great.

Hi

You have a couple of options as I see it.

Go to device manager and uninstall the driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.

Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.

Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.

Hi,

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver, but its not working, and i dont remember since when i have this problem (for quite some time now), so i dont know to what time i have to system restore. Finally my audio and bios drivers are up to date.

So, any other suggestions ?

Hey, 

I've got the exact same problem, but i have an Evny 14 (beats audio edition) instead. (win 7) 

since my warranty already expiered, i took a look inside the computer to see if any of the wiering had come loose, but no luck there. 

I think the problem is all software but i dont think there is any problems with the drivers. 

As mentioned above, skype was involved... So there might be something there. But i wouldnt know how to figure it out...

Hey, I solved it. 

After doing a lot of system recovery and other funky stuff to my computer i realized that the problem couldnt possibly be software (since i replaced everything). I mean, it looked like it was, but noooo...

Stick a small (magnetic) screwdriver in the headphone hole(s) and lurk it around lightly not breaking anything. 

now check if your speakers work.
