dv6-6002sa
windows 7, 64 bit
I only bought this laptop in October, how can the driver age be ancient? And why am I directed to sites where it will cost money to update it?

Please stay away from 3rd party programs such as this which are designed to steal your money
.
You can find all latest drivers for your notebook from below link for free of cost

OK, thanks. I should acknowledge that my tech knowledge is poor. I thought this scanner came with the laptop but it seems that i have unwittingly accepted it from the internet.
Of course I'm still curious as to why it tells me that my version of the ATI device is ancient, dating back to May 2010 and suggesting there is a May 2011 version available, but perhaps I'm asking questions I shouldn't be. Is it just telling me lies to get me to spend money?
I downloaded the audio driver option from the link you provided, but did I need to? Is it safe to assume that each time the HP support assistant box pops up to offer me new downloads I can trust that to keep me fully up to date?

Just ignore whatever it says and uninstall crapware you have accidentally installed. FYI, driver updates can be done in 2 ways
- Installing updates manually from HP website
- Automatic updates HPSA (HP Support Assistant)
As long as you have HPSA running in background you are good to go. ![]()
