Volume HP G61-511WM laptop not loud

HP G61-511WM

Windows 7

 

On my laptop I have had a problem with my volume not being loud at all.  I have turned the volume up as loud as it will go, yet the blueish green bar only barely jumps up and down when I am playing music or any type of sound.
